Warren McKinlay – #Petrolheads

Warren McKinlay grew up watching the likes of Nigel Mansell and Ayrton Senna on television. This fuelled his interest in cars and when he joined the Army, he became a Royal Electrical Mechanical Engineer, where he had the opportunity to drive all types of vehicles including the ever challenging Foden Wrecker. During the time he was serving, he owned a Kawasaki Z750 and would often participate in karting days with his colleagues.

With his wife expecting, they knew it was time for him to retire the motorcycle. Before it was sold he decided to take it for a few final spins and it was this decision that would alter the course of his life forever. Warren sustained severe injuries from a road traffic accident and was told that he would never be able to work again due to his traumatic brain injury.

Determined and dedicated, he focused on his recovery, his aim to get back into a routine and work. After several years, Warren built and ran his own business and after being invited to a karting day by KartForce, he began competing as well. His talent and tenacity afforded him the opportunity to join team BRIT who has set an ambitious goal for their drivers. He shares his inspirational story on this #Petrolheads episode.
